Choreography/music created for the season opening of Fjæreheia stage in Grimstad, Norway.
Fjæreheia started out as a stone quarry in the first half of last century.
Since approx. 1992 it has been a stage under the direction of Agder Theatre. Stage director Bentein Baardson was the initiator for this project and his version of Henrik Ibsens Catilina was the first play to be produced here.
"Granitt" consisted of two pieces. The first was an impro-stunt with about 60 local amateur dancers, during which the audience got seated. The second part is this choreography which originally was 17min. long. The first part is to be seen more as an installation. We worked with how you can create both small and huge spaces (literally and abstract) on this giant stage, and how the music either can underline or go against what we create in the room.
